Darna
Submitted by: jess on Feb 11th 2010
very disappointed...bread was tough, food was bland and there was no atmosphere. the potatoes in one of the salads were raw - none of the salads were good. also ordered the lamb and it was disappointing. we were also lied to by the door man when we asked if they played live music at the restaurant. he said there would be music later that night. once seated we asked the waitress who said they never have music. owner came to greet us but was very unfriendly. -- don't waste your money on Darna! Jerusalem is a big city, find another place to eat.

Haifa Restaurant
Submitted by: John M. on Feb 10th 2010
Horrible service, no atmosphere. I went there with my wife, and wanted to treat her to a night out. What we got was bad food, over $100 for 2 people (and we didn't even get appetizers), and slow service. To top it all off, it looks like a fast food joint, with ugly plastic seating...

The soup was good and watching the chef cook the food in front of you was cool, but the entree was overpriced for steak and chicken seasoned with soy sauce.

Tierra Sur at Herzog Winery
Submitted by: Mr. Nathaniel Atkins on Feb 2nd 2010
I love this place!! It's truly Oxnard's best kept
secret. The staff is always so very pleasant to my wife and I, and Chef Tod Arron is truly a master chef. This cat can really put it down. If you've never ate at Tierra Sur you are missing out on some very fine cusine. If you are looking for a romantic place for dinner with great food, this is the place to go.

I am reliably informed that Village Steakhouse has closed for good. They currently have a message on their phone which states that they are relocating, but I believe that they have unfortunately gone out of business. Elan if you would like to know where I got my information, you can email me privately if you wish. You have my email address.

Magazine
Submitted by: Elaine Raphael on Jan 10th 2010
First had a chance to really sit down and study your magazine and found it extremely helpful besides the format put together in an easy to read manner. There are restaurants would never know or think of going and by getting an idea of their service, food and prices willing to experiment. With the certificates can literally go to town. Kol HaKovod!!! Keep up the wonderful work.
Also, just put Olympic Pita seond on my meat list restaurant, tried Bennys on Ocean Ave; have a buffet night for US*19.95 which is one we will go back to and take guests. The service was friendly and helpful; the meat was fresh and cooked to perfection.

Olympic Pita NYC
Submitted by: Kobi Lippmann on Jan 7th 2010
As I work in the neiborhood, I decided to try Olympic Pita and see if it's truly an Israeli restaurant.

I was extremely surprised to see that they had my favorite food.

Yemenite soup, lamb shish-kabab, chips and Israeli salad.

It was authenticly tasty, delicious and affordable.

The waiter was pleasant and helpful within a pleasant atmosphere.

I will go back and try everything they have.

Go and enjoy.

Very confusing place. Waiters don't know the menu and whether the salad bar is included in anything. They also push more expensive items on you.

M Restaurant
Submitted by: gaby on Jan 2nd 2010
We ate there on 12/31/09. Because of New Year's eve, we were told by the owners-who are new and VERY nice with a desire to please-that they had overwhelming demand for reservations. This might explain the somewhat poor service. BUT, if that can be overlooked for the time, the food was excellent and portions were very generous. Prices were also quite reasonable for what you get. I had the ribeye and I could have shared it with my wife. Another couple said the same thing about what they ordered. So, if in choosing a restaurant, price and food is more important than service that may not be the best-though I can't generalize about the service from only one visit-I can recommend this restaurant highly.
