La Boite en Bois stands proud in the heart of the Upper West Side. In close proximity to Lincoln Center, a pre-theater crowd is known to fill this quaint and romantic French Bistro. With 45 seats, neighboring tables engage one another in conversation. The affable, yet attentive wait staff creates both a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere for newcomers as well as for patrons who have been returning since the restaurant opened 20 years ago. Authentic French knick-knacks adorn the walls, giving La Boite en Bois a truly rustic charm.
Chef/owner Gino Barbuti, who originally hailed from Parma, Italy honed his skills as a first rate French Chef at Le Coq D’Or in London. His menu at La Boite en Bois is a summary of the culinary treasure Gino has amassed in his travels, with specialties like Roast Duck, Seafood Crepes, and a wonderful Fish Stew. Large baskets are filled with warm rolls, and guests plates are replenished throughout the night. Desserts include the always popular Profiterols, and a selection of homemade sorbets are available each night.
The wine list is large, and is made up primarily of French wines, with a touch of vintages from California, Italy, Argentina, and Australia.
A pre-fix menu as well as a Sunday brunch are added touches to this Upper West Side “wooden box”, as it’s French name implies. PRIVATE PARTIES; PRE-THEATER MENU
