A cheerful environment makes Ota-Ya stand out amongst the many well-respected sushi restaurants on the Upper East Side. When guests first walk in, they are immediately attracted to the bright yellow glass wall that stands behind the stainless-steel sushi bar. Ota-Ya is able to offer a larger space to its diners than most other Japanese restaurants. Should they choose to eat in the larger main dining room, patrons are escorted to the “green room”, in which each table is lit up with ultra-modern triangular glass lamps. The dining room sits on a pristine wooden floor, and curtains rise up against it’s walls.
Open for 21/2 years, the fun vibes come full circle when the menu arrives. With special sushi rolls available each night, dining at Ota-Ya is never a boring experience. Crunchy White Tuna Jalapeno Roll, American Dream Roll, Spicy King Roll, and the Enter the Dragon Roll are some of the fun special selections that are offered nightly. Be sure to try the Spicy Tuna roll, which many say is tops in the neighborhood.
The open kitchen invites diners to try some of the hot food that is offered at Ota-Ya. Broiled Chilean Sea Bass with miso sauce, Baked Sea Scallop with spicy sauce, and the King Crab Stuffed Squid are just a sampling of the hot dishes that are available.
With a large sake list, and a complete selection of Japanese beers, diners have access to the full Japanese experience. Excellent service, coupled with “down to earth” prices will reel you in for good! PRIVATE PARTIES; PRIVATE ROOM; OFF-PREMISE CATERING; OUTDOOR DINING; DELIVERY; HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE
