Neo Sushi, to quote one of it’s many rave reviews, “presents to its faithful clientele a fusion menu that maintains all the fun of Japan’s hors d’oeuvres while exploiting classic dishes.” Japanese cloth lamps and a tear-drop chandelier towards the back of the dining room represents Neo’s commitment to keeping with the trends. One of the city’s largest wrap around sushi bars has seating for 15. A quick glimpse of the upscale eatery, complete with mahogany walls and chairs decorated with Japanese “Kanji”, leaves no afterthought as to why this neighborhood mainstay is visited by many of New York’s top celebrities, whose photos adorn the walls.
Proprietor Josh Shu is proud of his family-run restaurant, which is no surprise - accolades from Time Out New York, New York Magazine, and the New Yorker come in on a yearly basis as a testament to the quality and the freshness of the food. Neo is not your average sushi restaurant. Soy sauce is available only upon special request, and is brewed on the premises. All of the ingredients are prepared fresh in-house, except for the fish, which is imported daily directly from the Japanese ports. Each piece of sashimi has it’s own unique sauce that was created by the owner and chef. The Hamachi sampler, with three types of Yellowtale, is served with a Japanese citrus sauce. Neo’s signature Yuzu Miso Cod is succulently marinated in a homemade miso sauce. A nice selection of wines chosen specifically to match the cuisine, along with an impressive list of hard to find Sakes, rounds out a near-perfect dining excursion.
Donned the “West Side Nobu” by many of it’s customers, Neo sushi is an experience not to be missed when dinning on the Upper West Side. PRIVATE PARTIES; OFF PREMISE CATERING; OUTDOOR DINNING; TASTING DINNERS; PRICED FIXED DINNERS; DELIVERY; HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE
