Gente Ristorante Italiano offers a touch of Milan in New York City on 45th street. Owner and Executive Chef Jay B. Mitchell, who has cooked as a serious hobby since his college days, has taken his passion and opened up a wonderful Northern Italian eatery in Midtown Manhattan. Decorated with black and white photographs of famous actors, actresses and musicians of “Cine Citta”, or Film City, which celebrated the celebrities of 1950's Rome, the otherwise simple atmosphere allows diners to concentrate on what’s important - the food.
Gente prides itself on authenticity. Mr. Mitchell has traveled to Italy roughly 90 times to rediscover the tastes that he is able to flawlessly duplicate in his New York establishment. This “tour of Italy” includes soups that are made fresh daily using all vegetarian ingredients. Panini, pasta, pizza, and salads are all natural, using new ingredients brought back from Italy. One of the Chef’s favorite dishes, Tagliolini Con Gamberi E Asparagi, is a paper-thin ribbon noodle with fresh shrimp and asparagus. For those who crave a meat dish, be sure to try the tender Veal Piccata, served with a healthy side of fresh vegetables and pasta. For dessert, gelato, sorbetto, and dolce are flown in from Milan.
Gente offers an array of specials everyday. The kitchen has tremendous flexibility with the menu, as each dish is made to order, and all special requests are honored.
Second courses, such as chicken and tuna, are available for dinner and delivery. Take-out is available as well. The unique space is perfect for private parties, client presentations, or product introductions. There is also a fully licensed bar with a wide selection of alcohol from Grey Goose to Jack Daniels, making for a complete dining experience.
