Louie's West Side Cafe has over 19 years of experience learning what the neighborhood clientele wants, and works very hard to give it to them.
The café was opened in 1986 by proprietor Louie Sloves as a tiny storefront with 11 tables, 35 seats, and no liquor license. The crumbling surrounding bodegas turned into trendy shops and hi-rise buildings, and Louie’s expanded to include a full service bar and enclosed glass café. The goal was reached: a calm neighborhood restaurant – the kind of place where customers could return several times a week and feel at home.
While proud of her long history on the Upper West Side, Louie and Executive Chef Greg Cortelyou continue to update their menu to attract new generations of locals, while keeping their loyal customers happy, satisfied, and welcomed. Veracruz Style Shrimp Cocktail is dressed with avocado and coriander. A simple, but tasty salad might include Arugula, Endive and Pear with Toasted Pecans and Roquefort. An abundance of Fish, Meat, and Pasta dishes give to complete dining experience. Herb Roasted Chcken with mashed potatoes is a fine choice. Save room for the very special desserts, namely the Homemade Marshmellows - a treat for young and old alike!
In recent years, Louie has cultivated a unique and abundant herb garden on the beach in Long Branch, New Jersey. They continue to experiment with new ways of incorporating these lively flavor packed natural wonders into their menu.
Louie’s family was always involved with the culinary world. Her knowledge of food from the ground up comes from a lifetime of tasting and experimentation with total involvement of her family. DELIVERY; OUTDOOR DINING
