Ristorante La Grolla specializes in authentic Italian cuisine. The restaurant offers a pleasant, inviting dining atmosphere in a storefront setting. The menu, rooted in the cuisine of the Val d'Aoste (Alpine) region of Italy, offers an extensive array of selections. Owner Gena Comenzo opened the restaurant in 1999 with the aim of sharing the warm and rustic cuisine of Northern Italy with Upper West Siders.
Executive Chef Francesco Crescenzo has years of experience in an array of Italian cooking and cuisines, but specializes in the hearty fare of Northern Italy. His highlights include traditional homemade pastas, such as pappardelle in a ragu of wild game, tender roasted baby artichokes with a homemade almond pesto, and lamb shank with a shallot and garlic compote.
Time Out New York boasted that “This neighborhood Ristorante brings a burst of energy to the lackluster Italian restaurant scene on this stretch of Amsterdam Ave.” The food is always great , the choice of wine is spectacular, and the service is friendly and professional - the perfect place to entertain friends, family and business associates. Year after year, Ristorante La Grolla has been one of the highest rated restaurants on the Upper West Side in the Zagat Survey. From the minute you walk through the door and are greeted by its generous staff, with manager Dan Nistorescu at the helm, you know you are in for an experience different from your average neighborhood restaurant.
