Jezebel is a unique dining experience that is equally as satisfying to the eye as well as the palate. The cuisine exemplifies the unique blend of seasonings that is expected of the South, and the atmosphere awakens its spirit.
Chef and owner Alberta Wright is a lady with a highly developed sense of what tastes looks, smells, and feels good. Originally from Charleston, South Carolina, Alberta opened Jezebel in 1983, and designed what became an airy, yet intimate fabulously romantic dining spot in the center of Hell’s Kitchen, adjacent to the bustling theater district. Complete with 15 glowing chandeliers and almost as many “courting swings” for which to sit on while dining, Jezebel is a true taste of the South right here in Manhattan.
Alberta’s original Southern recipes include a Broiled Filet of Red Snapper with cornbread oyster stuffing, carrots vichy and string beans, as well as a stunning Seafood Platter, complete with shrimp, scallops, catfish or mussels and broiled with white wine herb. Desserts are a must of course, as Bread Pudding and Coconut Flaked Sweet Potato Pie add to the experience. The fun specialties drinks (The Grateful Dead, and Hillary’s Hell Raiser, to name just two) are always a popular choice with guests,.
Live jazz resonates through the nooks and crannies at Jezebel, as a trio performs to a late-night crowd from Thursday through Saturday.
Alberta Wright says it best: “People come to my restaurant to really feel at home - to be able to chill out and enjoy!” PRIVATE PARTIES; PRIVATE ROOM; TASTING DINNERS
