"You usually don't need an invitation for the nightly celebration at this new, moderately priced Brazilian eatery. An open kitchen full of festive vibe has already made the place a local favorite," says the New York Post of Zebu Grill. Zagat surveyers agree, stating that "Bold flavors jazz up the menu at this East Side Brazilian whose "fusionlike touches" alternate with Americanized food and the treat-you like-family service and modest prices make it charming."
Opened nearly 2 years ago by brother/sister team Tania and Paulo Oliveira, owners of Circus restaurant on Lexington Avenue, Zebu Grill has brought to the Upper East Side the transfusion of brazilian cuisine and potent caipirinhas. Named for a Brazilian breed of cattle, the room contains rustic wood tables, newspaper-clad wallpaper, and a display of exposed brick which all add to the feel. Upbeat music is a welcome addition to festivities, and the open kitchen allows patrons to get a peek into how the tasty food comes to fruition.
With starters ranging from BBQ baby spare ribs with ginger orange glaze and Mussels Sauteed with spicy tomato and malagueta pepper sauce, Zebu Grill brings a taste to the neighborhood that is different, yet compelling. Entrees such as the highly recommended Picadinho - diced beef traditionaly served with rice, beans, banana milanesa and poached egg - and Frango Com Quiabo - country style chicken with okra, saffron, and yuka sauce make the party that much more authentic. A price-fixed menu is also available for those looking for a more affordable dining experience.
In a short time, Zebu Grill has become a neighborhood favorite. Come join the party and see what everyone has been talking about! TAKE OUT; PRIVATE PARTIES; FIXED PRICE MENUS; ON & OFF PREMISE CATERING; COOKING CLASSES; WINE TASTINGS; OUTDOOR DINING
