With Persian Glatt Kosher cuisine, Colbeh is a refreshing change of pace. The menu will tantalize your palate with truly authentic dishes made with a harmonious blend of unusual spices and flavors. Lively and festive, with Persian music playing in the background, Colbeh adds a touch of elegance with fresh flowers and tall candles glowing on the tables. Plush burgundy carpeting and subdued lighting complete the decor in their two dining rooms. There's also a beautiful new catering room down the hall. You will be treated like an old friend by the hospitable staff. A basket of warm pita bread is brought to the table along with a bowl of Mediterranean pickles and olives. All the dishes are homemade, from scratch, with wonderful exotic flavors. An appetizer platter of chummus, babaganoushe, Turkish salad, and potato egg salad is a good way to get acquainted with this wonderful cuisine. Chicken, beef and fish kebabs are popular entrees and are accompanied by basmati rice with saffron. Stews, like bademjoun, which consists of fried eggplant, tomato, onion and tender cubes of beef have flavors that compliment each other. Traditional Mediterranean desserts, by a Persian bakery, are sweet endings to a splendid meal. And, enjoy a cup of Persian tea which is made from six different herbs. Colbeh offers classic Glatt Kosher Persian cuisine with an air of excitement at three locations. In addition to Great Neck, there's one in Manhattan, 43 W. 39th Street, 212- 354-8181 and Flushing, 68-34 Main Street, 718-268-8181.
