Matteos Trattoria is a legendary Italian family style restaurant with a New York City vibe, modern look and sophisticated style. It’s where the “old meets the new.” They have been passionate about serving and caring for their guests for more than three generations. The contemporary setting is striking, with a long white marble bar, a great place to meet friends and relax with one of their creative martinis. Globe light fixtures, a coffered ceiling, lots of warm brown woods, a cozy brick fireplace, comfortable banquettes, a private dining room, and flatscreen TVs at the bar complete the chic look. The surroundings are gorgeous!
Executive Chef Anthony Martarana, who says he has a “true scratch kitchen” and “very honest food” chooses the highest quality products that go into his house made pastas, sauces and everything we love. He places a huge emphasis on freshness and shops the markets daily. Anthony puts his own spin on classic dishes and makes “new classics” like Cavatelli Christina with house made sausage; warm Burrata with crusty grilled ciabatta; and Tuna Tartare. Matteos favorites, some on the menu for 25 years, like their famous Baked Clams; Chicken Matteo; Linguine with White Clam Sauce; and fresh warm Mozzarella, made to order, are here to stay. Anthony is very accommodating and interactive, often taking the orders and serving diners. Matteos keeps up with the latest trends while adhering to the traditional tastes of Italy. We enjoyed fresh Ravioli with truffle cream and porcini mushrooms; and Chicken Scarpariello with tender pieces of chicken and lots of garlic. Both dishes were generous portions with delicious hearty flavors. Wines are mostly from California and Italy and pair well with their menu.
The staff will go above and beyond to ensure a perfect dining experience. Throughout the years, Matteos has been a favorite local gathering place for friends and family as well as many celebrities, politicians and sports figures.
